Erika climbs a rock

Erika climbs a rock on the playground in our neighborhood park. The rock, of course, is fake, and it has handholds and footholds for easier climbing. Anyway, Erika is now able to climb it all by herself.

In this 55-second movie she climbs the steep part of the cliff: MPG, ~ 74.7 MB or MOV, ~ 73.8 MB (requires Quicktime). In this 35-second movie she climbs the easy part at the top the cliff: MPG, ~ 47.1 MB or MOV, ~ 46.5 MB (requires Quicktime).

Unfortunately, my new camera takes movies only in the Quicktime (.MOV) format, and they seem to be much bigger than the same length movies in AVI format, that my previous camera used to take. Converting to MPG makes them even bigger.

Why "Talking Handses?"

Erika has an endearing habit of pretending that her hand is talking. Of course, that's not really what she means: she does not yet have nearly enough capacity for figurative thinking to imagine that a hand may be talking. But that's what it looks like. She puts her hand over her mouth palm facing outward, and opens and closes her fingers, like in the header picture. Here is a link to a 7-second MPEG video of her doing that.

Handsssesss, my preciousssss.
